Meet Dr. Ken Nyaundi
Dr. Ken Nyaundi is a senior advocate of the High Court of Kenya with wide experience spanning over three decades. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, an expert in Alternative Dispute Resolution and sits as a member of the Chief Justice’s Mediation Accreditation Committee. Presently he serves as the managing partner in the law firm of Marende & Nyaundi Advocates, a specialized law firm in Nairobi.
Dr. Nyaundi has undertaken extensive consultancies in Private & Public Sectors covering extensive areas in International Law, Governance, Devolution, Wildlife Conservation, Rule of law and Administration of Justice. He has undertaken election observation missions in many countries including India, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria on behalf of the Commonwealth of Nations, the African Union, the East African Community and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy (EISA).
Dr. Nyaundi has served in the public sector in various capacities: as the founding chairperson of the Media Complaints Commission; a Commissioner with the Interim Independent Electoral Commission; a Trustee with the Universities Funding Board; a director of the South – South Centre; a director of the Coffee Development Fund; a member of the Communications Authority of Kenya Board of Directors; a member of the Task Force on Devolved Government; a member of the Taskforce on the development of Policies and Legislation to implement article 34 of the Constitution of Kenya, and; a member of the National Land Commission Task Force on Historical Land Injustices. He is a trainer, evaluator & Mentor in Managing Democratic Elections in Africa, a USAID Program for SADEC Region coordinated by UNISA, Pretoria.
In the professional segment he has served in various committees of the Law Society of Kenya, as the chairperson of the Board of Kituo cha Sheria (Legal Empowerment Centre), and as the chairman of the Council of the International Commission of Jurists- Kenya chapter.
Presently he is the chairman of the Laikipia University Council and has acted as the Chancellor of the university in the last three years.
He holds a doctorate degree in Public International Law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
